Packing and storage of network wires and acoustic cables in length to 1,5-2 m — not a problem. Another matter if their length - 10 and more metres, and taking - up and unwinding are made in haste. Cable winding on any subject circular motions leads to longitudinal twisting of wires, occurrence of loops and "lambs" which in turn lead to damage of isolation and a premature exit of a cable out of operation.
Cross winding of a cable on a hand as it is done by sellers and shops of radio- and the electrogoods, excludes its longitudinal twisting. But does not relieve of loops puffing up every which way in a bay that at the subsequent unwinding also will lead to occurrence of ill-starred "lambs" with all that it implies.
Once and for all to get rid of such misfortunes, we suggest to make very simple device - a shuttle for cross winding of a cable. To build it it is possible from improvised materials literally for one evening. And shuttle cheeks cut out the basis from plywood or any other sheet material. Lugs - from approaching on the size krugljasha (windfallen trees) or a log. Instead of lugs it is possible to bend a metal strip in the form of a semitrack and to fix them between cheeks and the basis screws. The distance between cheeks and the basis, and also diameter of lugs and width of an interval between them is defined by section and length of a cable.
Cable winding on a shuttle is better to begin with a plug. The end of a wire at a plug pass in a cut and, leading round it serially round lugs, stack (not hardly) cross-wise as it is done by sailors at winding of mooring ropes on deck knehty. At packing of a cable of a point of intersection in a gleam between lugs it is necessary to try to do in different places that in the middle of the basis "hump" was not formed. Finishing packing, the free end can be fixed a rubber ring.
