Arch in a country house – already classics of a genre: without it it is very difficult to manage in cases when it would be desirable to create illusion of space and is interesting to beat doorways.

But there is a question: what form to choose? The arch can appear in the most unexpected place and assume not less unexpected air. All depends on imagination of designers and architects. And if to start with their professional terminology exists two types of arches which anyhow can be applied in an interior.

The first type are so-called "passive" arches. They are simple and laconic, are not remarkable neither a design, nor the form, a decor. The passive arch has the traditional correct bow-shaped form, easily and is quickly constructed. According to designers, it is better not to use an arch in an interior in general if you have decided to prefer passive type. Especially when it is a question of the organisation of a premise of a country house.

Another matter – arches active, amazing with the variety of forms. Depending on design outlines, distinguish arches kilevidnye, korobovye, podkovoobraznye, lancet, creeping, polutsirkulnye and others. To choose the form of an active arch it is possible and depending on the stylistic decision of an interior. For example, the classics demands a round contour of an aperture of an arch with an arch of correct radius whereas arches of arches in modernist style are constructed with considerable lifting, and from an arch in the spirit of rococo – an arch in the form of a wrong ellipse.

Active arches allow to unite walls which are in different spaces and have different forms. For example, a direct and roundish wall, and also walls which do not stand on one straight line, they even can have unequal height and a thickness. For the account of similar difficult receptions it is possible to underline unusual geometry of the arch, to design it so that the arch opened a kind simultaneously on some rooms of a cottage. Using small architectural cunnings, it is possible to make a high-grade piece of furniture of an arch. In its piers (or columns) it is possible to build in book shelves, dot fixtures to place a collection of figurines, plates, toy tell-tales, musical disks.

By the way, arch piers it is possible successfully to use and try to expand room space visually. Such optical deceit is possible, if the input in an arch is made considerably already, than an exit of it. Placing columns not on a straight line, and with an inclination, you as if move apart walls of a small premise.

Various happen not only forms of arches, but also materials of which they are made. The arch aperture can be concrete, built of a brick or plaster, a tree, plastic. By the way, brick and monolithic concrete arches are so strong and steady that can be erected not only indoors, but also outside, being an architectural ornament of a cottage or an element of landscape design.
